The Steps of Sanctification

Steps come in shapes and sizes.
There are spiral steps.
Steps made of cement.
Steps made of stone.
Some steps are tiny.
Some steps feel like there is football field span of space leading to the next one.

So it is with life as well.
There are baby steps.
There are toddler steps.
Teenager steps.
Young adult steps.
You get the picture.

All of life, we are taking steps.  Some that move us up and some that move us down.

In our walk with Christ, we hope to be moving in a direction that brings us closer to Him.  We do this through daily devotion. Through prayer.  Through worship.  Whatever it takes, as our hearts become and more submitted to His heart, we find that we are taking these steps.

Paul saw that to be true as well.  In Philippians 3:10 he outlines four basic steps for each student of Christ.
  1. That we may know Him
  2. That we may know the power of His resurrection
  3. That we may share in His sufferings
  4. That we may become like Him in His death
Keep in mind that this is timed process.  It's life.  It's a cause and effect process.  In other words, that more we grow in Christ (cause), the further along we will move along these steps (effect).

Which step are you on?
